California - North

Cal-i-for-ni-yay!!
No place like home to do a sudoku puzzle! Improvising when it's raining and you have no shelter other than a bullet :-)
A nice lunch in the rain :-)
Big Redwoods!

The bullet is so tough it can drive through Redwood trees!

It's really like it looks in the movies....big and orange, but the bit they don't show you is that it's almost always covered in fog! Driving over the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco
The most crooked street in the world - it would be too steep to drive straight up....and there are some pretty steep hills elsewhere in San Fran (great for glutes!!)
(scary music).....Alcatraz Island. Glad we were visitors and not inhabitants!
Inside Alcatraz - there were three tiers of cells, and four corridors of cells
Inside a cell at Alcatraz - just enough room for the loo at the other end of the bed and what you see is what you get. Not much at all.
San Fran from Alcatraz - only 1 1/4 miles, but (per our guide) no successful escapees. Would be a very tough swim in prison garb
Biking to the Golden Gate
Surfers underneath the Golden Gate, right on top of the rocks at the base of the bridge pillars
